The History of TTV Hercules
From local club to Premier League
Table tennis club Hercules was founded in the second half of the twentieth century, during a time when the sport was booming in the Netherlands. Starting from a small group of enthusiastic players, the club quickly grew into a fixture in Terborg and the region.
The founding and early years
In the early years, matches were played at various locations. Like many clubs, the social aspect was central: training together, playing league matches and building a close-knit community.
A home of our own
A key milestone in the club's history was the realisation of its own venue on Bosboomstraat in Terborg.
With the construction and opening of this hall, Hercules gained:
- a permanent training and match venue
- room for team growth
- a clubhouse as a meeting place for members and supporters
National champions for the first time
In 1988, TTV Hercules made sports history: the girls' team, consisting of Esther Tanck, Jolanda van Amerongen and Yvette van Aken, became Dutch champions.

Growth of competition and youth
In the following years, Hercules developed both competitively and organisationally — with multiple senior and youth teams, promotions to higher divisions and a strong youth programme.
A national youth team runner-up title put the club on the map nationally.
More than just competition
Beyond the regular league, the club expanded its offering with:
- recreational table tennis
- 55+ groups
- adaptive sports
- Dynamic Tennis
On the road to the top
From 2023, the first team received a new competitive boost with the ambition to return to the highest level in the Netherlands. Through regional talent, targeted signings and a professional training approach, a top team was built.
Back in the Premier League
The hard work paid off.
The championship in the First Division in 2025 and promotion to the Premier League.
Hercules today
Today, TTV Hercules is a stable and welcoming club with its own venue, for both recreational and competitive players with strong regional ties.
The club still combines sporting ambition with the friendly and social atmosphere that has been its foundation from the start.
